Position 1: Research and Editorial Intern (remote)
PlaceEconomics, a consulting firm with extensive experience in the thorough and robust analysis of the economic impacts of historic preservation, is seeking a Research and Editorial Intern for summer 2019.
The interns must be highly motivated and a self-starter; passionate about historic preservation, writing, and design; and excited to share ideas. The Intern will acquire professional experience, work closely with managers in the production of a publication, and receive credit for their actions in the publication.
This is a remote work experience, intern must have reliable access to the internet and video calls.
Intern Responsibilities:

interview, research, fact-check, writing, and editing for a publication.

Assist with administrative tasks of marketing and publishing.

Manage workflow appropriately to meet project deadlines
Qualifications

Strong research, interviewing, and fact-checking abilities

Solid writing and editing skills

Interest in historic preservation, city planning, writing, and publishing

Currently enrolled in graduate program of study or recent graduate, students enrolled in historic preservation or urban planning with writing experience preferred.
Applicants must be able to commit to 10 weeks between May and September. This is a full time position, compensation is $15/hour. Class credit may be arranged.
Position 2: Research and Data Analysis Intern (remote)

The interns must be highly motivated and a self-starter; passionate about historic preservation, research, and data; and excited to share ideas. The Intern will acquire professional experience, work closely with managers in the production of client reports, and receive credit for their actions in the publication.
This is a remote work experience, intern must have reliable access to the internet and video calls.
Intern Responsibilities:

interview, research, and fact-checking.

Data collection, management, and analysis.

Producing tables, charts, and maps for reports.

Assist with writing.

Manage workflow appropriately to meet project deadlines

Other responsibilities may include producing literature reviews, conducting field work, and writing summaries of research procedures and results.
Qualifications

Strong research and summarizing abilities.

Experience with quantitative analysis including Census data and Excel
-
Familiarity with statistical software (SAS, SPSS, R), mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS)
-
Requires an organized, highly motivated, creative, and problem-solving individual who can work effectively on multiple projects at once.

Should have a strong interest in one or more of the following topics: community building and neighborhood revitalization, urban planning, historic preservation, economic development, policy, spatial analytics.
- Currently enrolled in graduate program of study or recent graduate, students enrolled in historic preservation or urban planning with research and data analysis experience preferred.
